Strangefates is a real life band within the virtual world of Secondlife. In real life they are known as the Molecules. The Molecules were formed by brothers Dave and Rob in Sheffield UK in the eighties producing a number of albums that reflected their influences in Krautrock, Space Rock, and Ambient music. They toured briefly in the 80s and 90s, and continued to record a number of epic studio albums alongside artwork and animations. Rob's 3D artwork led to a new lease of life for the band when they became a cartoon parody of themselves and a number of memorable images and animations presented themselves as album covers and website images www.johnnyrem.com and www.strangefates.com
The brothers performed and recorded with a number of drummers (which are summarised in our family tree) Bouski's And.D became the regular member of the band in the nineties. The band was also well known for Johnny Nightingale, the band's legendary Silent Vocalist, despite having a pretty good singing voice. Johnny's biography is listed here. Johnny left the band in 2007 for a period to sail round the world in a home made boat. In November 2006, as Johnny and Rob were focusing on their projects, Dave piloted the use of the virtual world Secondlife as a platform to link up the graphics, music, animations the Molecules had previously created and to further develop the virtual image they had accidently developed for themselves.

Dave (aka Didier) joined forces with the amazing Secondlife characters Salamander Maroon, Harrie Skjellerup, Cat Gisel, and Bittersweet Lime who became virtual band members. The band, now re-named Strangefates then set off on tour throughout Stages and Clubs in Secondlife, and continues to this day. The virtual band members originating from America, England, Ireland, and Germany and real life members from Wales and England, the band is truly international. The fan base membership continues to grow, and the band now have an official virtual photographer Natasja Koenkamp to support this website. Their performances continue to gain recognition, as the band members interact with the audience with a particular brand of humour alongside the striking graphics and effects. Pages covering the Strangefates Secondlife World Tour can be found here.
